Anna S. Roberge, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
MS, Communication Sciences and Disorders
MAEdHD, Special Education

I completed my undergraduate studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and have two Master’s degrees-a Master’s of Arts in Education and Human Development with a focus in Special Education from George Washington University and a Master’s of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University. Additionally, I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Language Association. I have completed coursework in Orton-Gillngham-based methodologies and served as a reading instructor employing Orton-Gilligham-based strategies in public and private settings. I have over 20 years of experience working with children with learning needs. I have also worked with people of diverse ages (3-80+), backgrounds, and abilities including those with ADHD, auditory processing disorder, autism, dyslexia, specific learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, Parkinson’s, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.
I was drawn to being a speech-language pathologist through my previous work as an exceptional children’s teacher, a literacy tutor, and an Orton-Gillingham-based tutor. I have a keen interest in self-expression whether it is a visual expression such as through a painting or a flower garden; a written expression such as a poem or a text; or a spoken expression such as a conversation, or a song.
I am fascinated by language, a system of symbols, and how these symbols are strung together to make meaning, how these messages are received and perceived, and ultimately, how these exchanges engender community and belonging. We derive meaning in our life through our relationships. We leave our legacy through shared stories and shared moments.
Through my practice as a speech-language pathologist, I hope to help people better express themselves and understand others in an effort to foster this sense of belonging and a greater quality of life. I offer speech-language screening, evaluation, and therapy services in the areas of expressive and receptive language, articulation, cognitive-communication (memory, problem-solving), and literacy. Drawing on my many years of experience as an exceptional children’s teacher, I also provide advocacy services and advice to help families navigate the IEP and 504 process. Additionally, I provide education and consultation services with regard to strategies, accommodations, and modifications that can be used in the classroom and at home.
